You know it’s Christmastime in Boston when The Nutcracker has arrived. Boston Ballet’s must-see holiday event tells the enchanted story of Christmas Eve in a small town in Germany in 1835. The story follows the daughter’s magical journey through a winter wonderland to a palace of sugary confections.

Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker has been performing in the city for more than 40 years and features 250 costumed children from the Boston Ballet School and the timeless Tchaikovsky music presented by the Boston Ballet Orchestra.

The near two-hour performance is a festive annual event for many ticket holders who enjoy dressing up for a night on the town. After a visit to the Nutcracker, you will surely leave with visions of sugar plums dancing in your head.
