Across the street from a dog hotel and a great Jewish bakery in Northern Liberties lies an unassuming live music gem that is way off the beaten path. Rated one of the top ten jazz clubs in the U.S. by Playboy Magazine, Ortleib’s Jazzhaus’ is more than worth the trip. Live jazz fills the room seven nights a week, drawing a crowd of young hipsters and older jazz enthusiasts. Tuesday and Sunday nights are reserved for local jam sessions, where you can mingle with big-name regulars such as drummer Mickey Roker or Tenor Sax Bootsie Barnes.
