The New Gansevoort Hotel

The Gansevoort Park is another gem brought to NYC by the Gansevoort Group, which turns to be their most impressive location yet. The entire place is funky, very modern, decorated with bright colors and hip furniture, but very comfortable and welcoming in the same time. According to the ‘connaisseurs’, Gansevoort’s Penthouses (PH1 and PH2) host some of the best parties these days. A significant part of the space is completely made of glass walls, offering amazing views of the city, and giving a modernistic feeling to the entire place. They also have a beautiful terrace on the top floor, where a DJ spins and summery cocktails are served. In general, more than one party takes place at the same time on these two floors, bringing together a mixed, stunning crowd of people. All these and more make the new Gansevoort Hotel a Must this summer. 420 Park Ave S New York, NY 10016 (212) 317-2900

The New Dream Hotel

The Dream Hotel recently opened its glamorous doors Downtown. The project which took almost five years to complete, and around $280 million had to rise to the standards of the already established places located in close proximity: The Standard and The Gansevoort. But The Dream certainly proves to be a threatening competitor. Last week, I had the privilege to go on a private tour of the entire space, and I was pleasantly surprised, so I'm going to share part of the experience. While walking in the Meatpacking District where it is located, I had no troubles spotting the hotel. The modern architecture is truly unique, entirely made of metal with round windows, and glass doors. Once you step in their shinny lobby, you will immediately feel transported into a futuristic world. Chandeliers, walls entirely made of glass, and the high-end furniture blend in together, creating a superb, modern space.

If you are only visiting the hotel, you can either grab a bite in their restaurant downstairs, or dip into their glass-bottom pool. But if you are too shy to go in for a swim - in fact the glass bottom of the pool is the ceiling of the lobby, just get a ten on their improvised sand. Great opportunity to show off that bikini body. But now let's talk about my absolute favorite part of the hotel - the stunning PH bar. Located on the top floor, the bar offers amazing views of the city, a modern decor, fun cocktails, and NYC's best crowd. Even though the bar is meant to be simply an amenity for the hotel's guests, their parties are populated by a melting pot of socialites, celebrities, financiers, mixed in with the fashion world and the more creative types. So, yes, this is the new hot spot in town, and it is not just a 'Dream'.

The Ace Hotel

I want to invite you to a very unique…lobby, because that’s what this bar slash restaurant slash coffee place slash library is – the lobby of the Ace Hotel. This place is great at any time of the day. In the afternoon you can bring your computer (free wireless internet) and work over a great cup of coffee, you can also grab a snack with friends and relax in their wingback chairs or leather loveseats, and at night put most hip clothes one, because the Ace turns into a popular bar with a tight door. They also have a fun photo boot – I already have an impressive collection of photos (just $5 each). And if you are on the go, just get a coffee at the Stumptown (located in their lobby as well).

Intimate Entertainment at Joe’s Pub

Picture 25An arm of NYC's venerable Public Theater, Joe's Pub is actually a luxurious lounge and cabaret space offering an intimate space to experience some of the best jazz, comedy and up-and-coming musical acts. It's one of the few places in New York you'll find major stars without the drama involved in getting in and getting a good spot. Performers who have hit Joe's Pub's stage include Tony award-winning Sutton Foster, Isaac Mizrahi (yes- the designer/comedian for a night), Grammy award winning Adele,  international signing star Lara Fabian, and the list goes on and on. Newsweek described this as "one of the country's best small stages" and every night the quality of performances and quality of service at the lounge seals its commendable reputation.

Take in the Tropical Air at the Cabanas

Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel is the Meatpacking’s rooftop escape from New York City’s summertime swelter. Whimsical patio furniture, amid tropical décor, feels like a Hampton retreat stories above the concrete jungle below. It’s always a better scene mid-week for social cocktails. A good dance floor night at Cabanas is refreshingly playful, unlike its fellow summer see and be seens. Cabanas is just one of the Maritime Group’s NYC nightlife institutions. Its sister NYU hang Bowery Bar is another summer air favorite, and The Maritime Hotel’s Matsuri and nightclub Hiro offer a swankier scene just downstairs. A massive white wall with marine windows, the Maritime Hotel is impossible to miss. Its meatpacking/Chelsea location makes the Cabanas perfect for jumping off or capping a crisp summer night out.
