Despite having only one small bathroom, Matt’s Rancho Martinez has several things that ARE big: the salsa, Bob Armstrong dip, and yummy margaritas. Located next to the historical Lakewood Theater and winner of several accolades like “Best Tex-Mex” and “Best Chile Rellenos,” Matt’s is almost a rite of passage for Dallasites and tourists alike. You can’t say you’ve experienced Texas culture until you’ve had a steaming plate of fajitas, something smothered in queso until it’s unidentifiable, and had a tall glass of sweet tea to wash it down. Matt’s Rancho is certainly the place to experience this, and then some.
Parking can be tricky, as Matt’s can be packed on weekends, but it’s worth circling around the block a few times to taste the delicious blend of cheese, beef and fresh guacamole in the Bob Armstrong dip. One last reason to check out Matt’s? Ka-ching-its reasonable prices gives you no excuse not to indulge in all your favorites.
