Picture 25For nearly a century, fitness fanatics have been participating in San Francisco’s Bay to Breakers footrace. Around ten thousand people will participate in the 7.46 mile race, but don’t let the fact that you’ll be competing against world class athletes deter you, who will be gunning for the blistering course record of 33 minutes. There’s also plenty of costumed runners, who have been participating since 1940, as well as some who are simply out for a day of running and walking through the beautiful course as it snakes through San Francisco. The race begins on the north side of downtown, near the bay, and heads west to finish at Ocean Beach and its breaking waves, hence the name.
