Rock it Out at Tattoo Bar

As one of the most unique bars in DC, Tattoo Bar is small, but intimately claustrophobic and extremely edgy.

With a hip, rock-n-roll theme, the Tattoo Bar is an interesting amalgamation of a bar and a nightclub sporting a mix of rock and roll and some house music.

Like stepping into a tattoo parlor, Tattoo Bar gives off a badass and sexily forbidden vibe. Decked out with black leather banquettes, dark light fixtures, tribal tattoo patterns, the “ghost rider,” and pictures of heavily inked individuals, this bar is definitely one of a kind. Dance the Night Away at Madrone Art Bar

Madrone

For an upscale time on a budget, head to Madrone Art Bar on Divisidero for fun drinks, a chill, friendly crowd and lots and lots of dancing.

Things really heat up Tuesday nights for Boogaloo $2 Tuesdays with the local band “Steppin” playing live music until closing and $2 Tecate beer and $4 Jameson all night long. Fridays and Saturdays also get going with drink specials and theme nights,  including a Michael Jackson/Prince dance-off.

You also can’t beat the decor. Madrone highlights different artists and their work – from photographs to paintings and mixed media – every month, making each visit feel like your first.

They also have a photo booth in the front of the bar so even if you forget your camera, you can still have memories of a great night.

Madrone Art Bar is located at 500 Divisadero Street in San Francisco.

The Shag Lounge: Getting Down(town) and Dirty

The cheeky name of this downtown nightspot is at once a double entendre and an homage to the eponymous artist, http://www.shag.com whose jazzy retro sensibilities inform the décor, which evokes a groovy Space Age swinger’s pad (complete with tiki torches and a stripper pole). If the motto “cheap drinks and good times” doesn’t say it all, theme nights like Rhythm & Booze Saturdays and SCuMBag SuNDaYS sure should—Shag is for guzzling up, getting down, and being seen doing it, whether on the dance floor or out on the patio. Whether it’s for you depends on your tolerance for hipster hysteria on any given night.
