JD’s Chippery

Come in and see why this family-owned business has become a part of life for generations of Park Cities families and SMU students. All products at JD’s Chippery are made “from scratch” and baked fresh throughout the day. We bake in small quantities to ensure freshness and superior quality. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for. They have that crispy crunch on the outside but the inside is so buttery soft and almost doughy that makes this cookie just melt in your mouth.

Taste baked perfection at JD’s Chippery

JD’s Chippery in University Park is a little bakery with a big following. Their following is so big they manage to stay in business despite only selling two things: cookies and muffins. Yes folks, they are that good. They make the kind of cookie that cookie monster only dreams about: dense yet soft, chewy and often still warm. The oatmeal chocolate chip and snicker doodle are fan favorites, but really every flavor melts in your mouth. For larger orders call ahead to make sure they have enough of what you want. Please not JD’s does not accept credit cards: cash or check only.

Cretia is Nightlife’s Sweet Spot

You might not immediately think of Cretia’s as a hopping nightlife spot if you’ve never been. Oh, you’ve heard they have an incredible (affordable!) brunch and killer desserts? But at night, it has live music, an expansive patio anPicture 21d bars packed with more action than a Bruce Willis movie. Open until 2:00 a.m. with free valet, Cretia’s has several different rooms inside the bar/restaurant, each decorated with a slightly gothic style. The atmosphere ranges from hipster romantic to raging party, depending on the night and the music.

The stocked Ruby Bar is reason enough to spend your evening here, but if you come early enough, treat yourself to the sinful desserts at the bakery. You’ll never go wrong with the White Sour Cream Cake and Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. So the next time you feel like getting your groove on (and perhaps giving in to your sweet tooth), head down McKinney to find all your favorites in one spot.

Bringing Back the Milk Moustache at Milk Shop

Whether you go sweet or savory, the Milk Shop features some of the best sandwiches, sodas,LAmilk and sweets an L.A. restaurant could offer. Though breakfast and lunch are the most popular times to visit the shop, most people stop by for a quick slice of blue velvet cake or a Shirley Temple float.

If you think blue cake and whimsical ice cream floats sound more childish than chic, you won’t believe how elegant the décor is and how its fashioned similar to an upscale New York eatery. This place is a perfect first date spot where you are encouraged to create your own malts or split a pear and almond tart for two. With first daters, young couples, and anyone who loves good food, it wasn’t long until the ladies from MTV’s The Hills made their debut on the show eating a casual late afternoon lunch here.

If you are going for lunch, do how the Hills girls do; snag a table outside on the street to get front row seating for people watching.
