Food The Nature of Eating
Harvested from the minds of our spectacular design team, our newest self-curated exhibit Food: The Nature of Eating goes beyond your plate to bring you a farm-fresh perspective on how food connects us to family, friends and ultimately back to the people who produce it.

Join us on this interactive journey from the 19th century to the present day as we show you how our relationship with food has impacted the land, the environment and our society. Along the way, you’ll discover how food travels the world before it reaches your home and learn how millions of acres of fertile Illinois prairie were changed to farmland in less than a century by a tiny technological marvel called the plow.

The Fruit & Spice Park

The Fruit & Spice Park is the only garden of its kind in the United States, a 30-acre park exhibiting over 500 varieties of fruits, veggies, spices, herbs, nuts and exotic edibles. An old schoolhouse and coral rock building chart Florida’s pioneer life. Another throwback to the fruit farming of old is Robert is Here, which started life in 1959 when the shop’s namesake, then six, began selling the family’s cucumbers from a small stall. Since then, it has grown into an exotic emporium of fruit and veg. In the lovely setting you can drink fruity milkshakes and buy sweet gifts.

Surf’s Up at Duke’s

If you can’t make it to Maui this weekend, your next best bet is to head over to Duke’s.

Located in Malibu and overlooking the ocean, Duke’s is the perfect dinner destination that brings Hawaiian flare without all the tourists. Locals from Malibu and Los Angeles can never seem to get enough of the fruity cocktails and signature fish tacos that Duke’s serves up for lunch and dinner.

If you stick around for dinner to enjoy their fresh fish selections such as their lobster tail, make sure to grab a table near the window to enjoy ocean views and the sunset. Though they are known for their fish tacos and array of assorted seafood, diners rave over their macadamia nut ice cream and kimo wine as well.

Duke’s also has designated nights for wine lovers and fruity cocktail aficionados. Wednesdays are dedicated to bottles of half-off wine while the Barefoot Bar assigns different nights to different drinks.

If you are visiting the bu’, make sure to visit Duke’s.
