“Terror Behind the Walls” is a Halloween event held annually at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known as “A Massive Haunted House in a Real Prison,” is actually made up of five separate haunted attractions inside the 11-acre
complex.

Terror Behind the Walls has grown to become one of the nation’s largest and most well known haunted attractions. It had been consistently ranked as one of the top haunted attractions in the nation and is a must-see if you truly want to get into the spirit of Halloween. 1. Independence Day in the Capital July 4

Picture 37The capital city is the place to be on the 4th of July. Celebrations run all day throughout the city, beginning with activities at the White House Visitor Center early in the morning. Following that, don’t miss the parade of the military and marching bands down Constitution Ave or the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival that features dance performances as well as a large selection of international foods. You won’t want to miss the live concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and several pop artists on the West Lawn of the Capitol building. The performance is followed by a spectacular fireworks show against the city’s skyline that will certainly warm your hearts and inspire patriotic feelings. A busy day of celebrations to commemorate the birth of our nation!

2. Jazz Around Town at DC Jazz Festival June 1-13

Picture 109With over 100 performances in over a dozen places in the city, it’s safe to say the DC Jazz Festival is taking over the nation’s capital for the first two weeks of June. This is DC’s largest music festival and one of the most highly-anticipated events of the summer. Venues go from famous jazz joints like Georgetown’s Blues Alley to clubs like Tryst. Other events within the festival include the all-day jazz extravaganza- that’s free- at the Lisner Auditorium as well as the Jazz ‘N Families Fun Day and Jazz Under the Stars.

3. India v. USA at Polo Cup on National Mall June 11-12

Picture 112Believe it or not, America’s Polo Cup World Championships, held in the heart of DC on the National Mall, is one of the world’s premier televised charity polo sporting events and the largest one of its kind in the DC area. Every year Team USA goes up against a different nation, and this year it’s India. But there’s a whole lot more than one game; this is a weekend extravaganza. The celebration kicks off on June 11th with an exclusive VIP party. On Saturday, the Championship and Fashion Show begin with a Bollywood style introduction that’s answered by an American rock anthem. The game is always intense both on and off the field, as the men duke it out with their horses while the women face off in a fashion hat frenzy to win the title of Best Hat and Best Dressed. It’s a chic European event in the heart of our nation’s Capital.
