But if you’re in LA you may have the chance to see all of this in person! For those who planned in advance (or those who want a heads up for next year), registration for bleacher seats closed on September 2009. But if you have a lot of patience and get there early, there is a possibility patience can pay by waiting in line for a golden ticket to the bleachers. Of course, there are plenty of Oscar themed parties across Los Angeles where you can enjoy the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Show from the comfort of a swanky lounge or killer house party.

5. Griffith Observatory Star Party March 20

Picture 21This month may be the month for the ultimate Hollywood star party, the Oscars, but for those who can’t get a ticket to that event, there’s one for another kind of star: The Griffith Observatory Star Party.  Held once a month, the curious public and the Los Angeles Astronomical Society meet to talk the sun, moon, planets, stars and other celestial objects. Not only is it free, you also get to pick the brains of knowledgeable astronomers- and get to use their equipment! Yes, you can try out to telescopes to see your favorite star or planet with your own two eyes.

1. Denver Film Society Roots for Its Own at Oscars Party March 7

Picture 24The Oscars are one of the biggest cultural events every year, but in Denver they are especially special in 2010. Three of Denver Film Society’s films are up for the golden statuette, including Precious, The Cove and a documentary short.

The Party with Oscar at the innovative Museum of Contemporary Art offers the select few a true Hollywood experience, complete with a red carpet. Throughout four floors of the MCA’s unique galleries, patrons will be sipping champagne, snacking on gourmet hors d’ouerves and watching the Academy Awards on well placed viewing screens all over the museum. If this venue and event isn’t fabulous enough, the MCA also offers one of the best skyline views of the gorgeous city.

1. NYC’S First Official Oscar Party March 1-7

New York is usuallyPicture 10 the first on every trend, but this time they’re following a great one that has been going on across the US for years: an official Oscar party. On March 7, NYC & Company will be hosting the first ever “Oscar Night and the City,” NYC’s Official Oscar Night American celebration. Located at the prestigious Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, this event is as glamorous as the one in Hollywood with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception and an official broadcast viewing party where you can have either a “starring role” or “supporting role,” depending on your tickets.

For those who can’t make the Oscar bash, NYC & Co is hosting events for the entire week leading up to the broadcast with an Oscar-winning movie marathon featuring NYC-themed films and several exhibits, all at Lincoln Center.

2. Celebrate Oscars with Miss America March 7

Look no further than the Traverse Arts Project and The Radisson Warwick Hotel, who will host their 2nd Annual Red Carpet Party on the biggest night in Hollywood. Hosts include Robert “Sandy Beach” Hitchen, reigning Miss America Pageant winner Michelle Dupree and award winning composer Joseph Hallman.

The event will feature a viewing of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards live from Hollywood. The hotel’s elegant Gold and Silver VIP Levels include all-access with open wine, beer, and vodka bar, as well as gourmet food all night long. The hottest Oscar party isn’t in tinsel town this year, it’s at the Radisson Warwick Hotel.

On Sunday, March 7, Lucca Back Bay is hosting a party to celebrate the hottest night in Hollywood. Executive chef Anthony Mazzotta will prepare a regional Italian menu specific to the changing seasons. Watch Hollywood’s brightest stars walk down the red carpet from Lucca’s lounge; separated from the main dining room the lounge features a substantial bar filled with a varied selections of scotches, bourbons and the finest Italian wines. It’s a night that promises to be filled with fun, friends, and plenty of little golden men named Oscar.

3. Oscar’s Official Party in Atlanta March 7

On March 7, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre will host Atlanta’s only official Oscar party. While tens of millions of cinema lovers glue themselves to their television sets to learn who will receive the golden statuettes, the Oscar Night America attendees will be watching the events with champagne, dinner and a massive screen in a first-class affair. After a year full of so many great films and the first time in decades that 10 films have been nominated for Best Picture, it is really anybody’s game. So come out to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and watch the awards the way the stars do, in red carpet style.
