SoBe’s newest hotspot Mokai already attracting celebs

Since today’s reality celebrities are always lumped in with A-listers, let’s consider Kendra Wilkinson (of reality television’s “Kendra on Top” on WE TV) stopping in at SoBe’s newest nightclub Mokai for a night of partying with girlfriends, a true celeb sighting.

The scene at Mokai is typical South Beach. Scantily clad dancers, sometimes alone but many times in pairs (or trios), set the scene for a night of revelry and debauchery like only SoBe can deliver. DJ’s pump the house music nightly, since the nightclub scene really never dies, while bottles of bubbly pop all night in the VIP section.

Weeknight parties here have kitchy names like Ransom Mondays, Relapse Wednesdays and Weekend Warrior Fridays. On Saturdays Gino G., Mike Russ, S1 spin while Weisson plays drums.

Mokai is located at 235 23 St., Miami Beach, FL, 305-673-1409, www.mokaimiami.com

The Dutch at the W epitomizes simple elegance

The Dutch at the W Hotel on South Beach is turning the chic, boutique hotel on its head offering an unpretentious menu and equally casual atmosphere. It’s easy to relax in the lovely, bright restaurant where the kitchen is expertly run by renowned New York chef Andrew Carmellini.

Of course, housed within a hotel, which is unusual unto itself given that most hotel restaurants really aren’t of such a high quality, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hazelnut crusted French toast amd crab cake benedict with asparagus and a kicky chipotle hollandaise elevate the breakfast standards while entrees like short rib ravioli, roast mushroom and taleggio fonduta and pappardelle, lamb ragu, sheep’s milk ricotta and milk are great for lunch and hefty enough they could be on their supper menu. Short ribs and sea scallops make a second appearance on that menu but are dressed up differently.

Fifty Ultra Lounge: Viceroy Hotel’s hot spot

One of Downtown Miami’s hottest hotels is surprisingly enough, a fabulous nightclub spot. The Fifty Ultra Lounge at Viceroy Miami is stiff competition for those clubs on the other side of the Causeway (meaning South Beach).

Appropriately named for its location, the view alone is unmatched by any other club because it sits on the building’s rooftop meaning unobstructed water and skyline views as far as the eye can see. The pool, which serves as the centerpiece here, is no slouch either, adding that perfect Miami touch.

FIFTY promises to bring you a “One-of-a-kind rooftop lounge with a fresh new look on Miami’s Nightlife scene.” There’s always something happening on this rooftop with Happy Hour, guest DJ’s, special Ladies’ Night events and Sunday afternoon pool parties. Celebrities are frequently spotted here so keep your eyes peeled.

Dream: This is no la la land but it’s a dream

Yet another velvet rope nightclub has debuted in South Beach. This one’s called Dream and features all that’s come to be expected from a high energy, open ’til the wee hours hot spot in what’s known as the American Riviera.

Like most of the nightclubs in the area, this one’s on Washington Avenue, the hotbed strip for late night party hounds. Dream’s decadent interior is filled with obligatory disco balls, multi-colored flourescent lighting, comfy tufted leather booths where celebrities and other high-rollers are sure to enjoy bottle service throughout the night.

The nightly themes, like Fantasy Wednesdays, Eyecandy Saturdays and Fubar Fridays seem to have a recurring theme. It’s pure South Beach decadence for sure. It’s what’s to be expected around these parts.

Pretty in Pink’s Hot Dogs

From Celine Dion to Snoop Dogg, everyone’s favorite hot dogs seem to be Pink.

Though the actual color of the dog isn’t that pretty shade, Paul Pink who started his first hotdog stand in 1939 is the reason people wait in hour long lines for the delicious dogs.

If you ever pass by Pink’s, you’ll probably notice the crowds hovering around the hotdog stand waiting to place an order. With famous options such as the Bacon Chili Cheese Dog or Chili Cheese Dog, anyone who’s anyone will tell you the line is worth the wait. Though original options definitely make a splash, offerings such as the Guacamole Hotdog or The Three Dog Night, featuring three hot dogs wrapped in a tortilla with bacon and cheese, are all becoming favorites to Angelinos.

With great tasting hotdogs and prices to match, people from all over the world venture to Pink’s not only for the food but also for the experience. There is truly something about waiting in line and calling out an order that makes the experience rather than breaks it. Similar to the long lines, parking can be just as difficult.

If you truly want a Pink’s experience, it wouldn’t be the same without the difficulty of parking and the long, long lines.

All for a Pink.

The line-up is non-stop and features DJ’s playing a blend of hip hop, Latin, and dance tunes. Amber Rose, model and ex girlfriend of hip hop artist Kanye West hosts a party here for her new beau Wiz Khalifa and bands like The Battles and Caramelos de Cianuro join other newcomers on the scene.

It’s a great deal too with minimal cover charges drink specials almost every night.

This hotel, hidden by trees and fences, is definitely one of those places you either know about or have been before. With gorgeous rooms and five-star service, even if your last name doesn’t end in Lohan or Spears, you’ll still be treated like a star.

But Sunset Marquis is also just as fun as a watering hole one Saturday night or a quick place to grab a meal at Restaurant, the hotel’s eating establishment.

And for those wild Hollywood nights you have with your friends, Bar 1200 is the perfect night cap – just make sure your makeup and hair are still in tact. The likelihood of a celeb spotting is almost too high.

Runyon Canyon: The Hottest Place To Break A Sweat

In the land of kickboxing, yoga and Pilates, you can find one of the best workouts in Los Angeles that actually comes with a view.

Runyon Canyon has become a celebrity hotspot and weekend go-to for the true workout enthusiast. After you grab your Evian and leash up your dog, prepare to be quite literally “wowed” by the gorgeous views surrounding you at each possible direction.

Runyon is truly unlike any hiking trail of its kind. Filled with beautiful people in an equally beautiful setting, this is the type of place that is the perfect escape, first date or Saturday ritual.

But be warned: the sun’s shining rays can get easily mistaken with the packs of running bleach blonds and blinding white teeth.

This canyon is officially the chicest place to run-yon.

Scarpetta: Italian eats at the Fontainebleau

scarpetta02

Chef Scott Conant’s empire of restaurants is ever-present in the legendary art deco Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel and his restaurant Scarpetta. His eats aren’t cheap but the taste is amazing and the ambiance unbeatable.

Housed in the star of Miami Beach’s Art Deco hotels, it’s done up elegantly in a creamy white motif and boasts incredible views, a cool bar also done in white with silver circles to add interest. But definitely the star here is the food.

Chef Conant’s belief in simple, delicious Italian food comes through in his menu. His pastas,  like the location, are legendary. Classic preparation with minimal ingredients make them delectable, like the black tagliatelle topped with lobster which is a thing of beauty. Pastas are plated elegantly in a lovely tight circle. They’ve also got a fresh made stromboli that puts anything found at a local pizza joint to shame. These are just some of the stars on the menu.

Scarpetta is located in the Fontainebleau Hilton, 4401 Collins Ave., Miami Beach

Julian Chang: Couture with a Miami flair

In a non-descript building along Biscayne Boulevard in Miami’s MiMo District or Upper East Side is the Julian Chang boutique/showroom. A native Peruvian who studied at Miami International University of Art & Design, the designer was a force to be reckoned with while still attending school.

His couture pieces quickly became the favorite of Miami’s elite crowd who turned to Chang for original designs during the height of party season which is pretty much year-round in Miami. He certainly does not pigeonhole himself to one style, cranking out eveningwear, contemporary women’s and ready-to-wear collections. He’s received honors from Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue en Espanol and MIFW.

Sunset Lounge at the Mondrian: Easy, breezy and chic

No matter how crowded South Beach gets, there’s always a cool poolside lounge to hang at that makes being in Miami well…tres cool. The Sunset Lounge at the Mondrian South Beach is one of those places. It’s elegant with the classy touches that people visiting Miami Beach have come to expect.

As always too, it’s a multiple-space experience here so everyone can find a great spot of their own. For an outdoor experience there’s plush red velvet seating with matching red and white designed carpet and a killer view of Biscayne Bay with Downtown Miami’s skyline as a back drop. Inside is the Lobby Bar and Lounge, a feast for the eyes in a different sense with a black winding spiral staircase and silent bell light fixtures designed by Marcel Wanders. The specialty cocktails, made with exotic and local ingredients as well as the live Latin and Spanish guitar players complete the experience.

The Mondrian South Beach is located at 1100 West Avenue, Miami Beach, FL

Wall Lounge: W South Beach’s IT place

It doesn’t get any swankier than a W Hotel and with the crowds this place is attracting, especially on South Beach, a nightclub is pretty much a given so the Wall Lounge is where it’s at in this place.

Decked out to look like something out of the 1960s, with funky psychedelic lights, retro leather couches around intimate round tables, perfect for groups wanting bottle service and circular blacklight inspired images projected throughout complete the space.

DJ Irie plays the tunes here along with his other contemporaries like the legendary Paul Oakenfold who is known to make appearances here as well.

Rokbar: Rockin’ attitude the Tommy Lee way

A departure from the usual high energy dance clubs of South Beach, rocker Tommy Lee’s, drummer for Motley Crue, Rokbar is the ultimate hangout place for the hard rock crowd.

Something’s going on here every night. Insomniac Thursdays; Dirty, Sexy Rock & Roll Fridays, Fresh 2 Death and DJ Tommy Ryk Saturdays and house music every Tuesday. Celebrities like actor Ryan Gosling and bands touring through Miami are regulars at Rokbar where Crue pics adorn the walls behind the bar which features rocked lighting of black leather suspended by metal chains.

Your New Favorite Spot: My Studio Nightclub

Though you probably remember it as Mood Nightclub, My Studio on Hollywood Boulevard has completed transformed their space to create a lounge environment with a wall filled with books, a piano in the corner and plush sofas for endless amounts of seating.

mystudio pic

The popular nightclub is bringing all types of people in, from those looking to enjoy a night out to those looking to celebrate a birthday or special event. Since the popularity of the spot is continually growing, your name on the guest list is essential unless you are looking forward to a long wait on line. And the fact that celebrity visitors include Karissa Shannon, Seth MacFarlane and Lauren Conrad, the hopes of getting past the velvet rope continue to grow as the weekends approach.

Along with celebrity followers, My Studio has also become popular thanks to their special events that are constantly being thrown and are constantly changing. Events include special guest performances, DJ visits and other appropriately themed parties such as their Post Memorial Day Party and celebrity birthdays.

Hub 51: More Than Meets the Eye

Want to dine to the likes shia-labeouf11of Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel & Fergie? Then Hub 51 is your place. While filming Transformers 3 in the Windy City, the stars (and spouse in Josh’s case) frequented Hub 51 which is also known to host plenty of NBA stars as well.

So what is it that causes the stars to flock here? Perhaps it’s that they serve a little bit of this and a little bit of that and they do it all oh so darn well from the juicy burger to the fresher than fresh sushi. Then again it could be the drinks – like a whole lot of yummy draft beer selections, superb wines and unique draft cocktail specialties that change with the seasons.

Whether its the menu, the drinks or the stars that lure you here – just make sure you look your best as you never know who you’ll run into.

Italian Fare That Will Make You Want to Say Cheese: Cecconi’s

Cecconis pic

If you feel like dining alongside Whitney Port, Jennifer Lopez, or Kristin Cavallari, Cecconi’s is an absolute must for some of the best Italian food Los Angeles has to offer.

Located in West Hollywood, Cecconi’s serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of many dining areas such as the main dining area, bar, terrace or Butterfly Room. The Butterfly Room is the restaurant’s private dining area that can be rented out for private events and parties and can seat up to 16 people.

The dinner menu is filled with Italian favorites such as Potato Gnocchi with Bolognese and Wild Mushroom Risotto. The menu also features charcoal grill and wood oven dishes such as Eggplant Parmigiana and Mary’s Farm Chicken Paillard.

Though the food and dining experience is elegant, the restaurant gears itself towards a younger crowd by offering a midnight menu offered Thursday through Saturday from 11pm to 1am.

Bring your appetites and your autograph books.

Katsuya Hollywood: A Sushi Kraze

katsuya pic

The Katsuya kraze has officially taken over Hollywood.

Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus are frequent visitors along with anyone else who appreciates good quality sushi. With sushi favorites such as spicy albacore over crispy onion as well as spicy tuna over crispy rice, the Hollywood location is the perfect place to order off the menu or indulge in a chef’s tasting. Along with perfectly concocted dishes, Katsuya has a large list of specialty cocktails with restaurant favorites such as the Watermelon Cucumber Mojito or the Lychee Lovely with vanilla infused vodka and fresh squeezed grapefruit.

Though the beautifully decorated red and white restaurant is the perfect place for dinner or a special occasion, Katsuya has recently come up with new ways for foodies to enjoy on a budget. The Lucky Seven features seven tastings, such as tuna tacos and Kobe beef sliders, for seven dollars. Other deals include Sake Specials on Monday or Garlic Shrimp paired with a pitcher of beer for twenty bucks on select days and locations.

Reservations are recommended and valet parking is sometimes your only parking option on busy nights.

Whiskey Blue Is the Place To Feel Like A Rock Star

whiskey blueThere’s no better place to feel like a rock star than Whiskey Blue. Of course the weekends are maddening but the weekdays aren’t too shabby either. Wednesday typically attracts the business crowd but there’s nothing boring about making dollars.

As a hotel guest, it’s easy to access the rooftop party from within the hotel but it might be worth entering it from the street just to ride up in elevator with the couch and cross the bridge to excitement.

The bar is a stylish slither so it’s only natural to meet people. Small bites like the yummy tuna spring rolls and lamb sausage pizza from Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Market downstairs are available until 10pm. Move past the bar and the space opens up slightly. Wood-paneled walls and yacht-club inspired furnishings create a warm and intimate vibe and then, the DJ is barely noticeable all the way in the back. There’s also seating parallel to the bar, hence the slithering gap.

Now if a city view and fresh air is a must, take the right just past the bar, through a glass door and behold a clear view of the city. To really soak in the al fresco vibe, though, go to the other side and stay awhile. Cabanas divided by a mini-garden of sorts, well shrubbery and other trappings of nature, work for all seasons thanks to heat lamps.

Drinks are seasonal and pretty standard for most bars in the Gerber Group stable. The Bubblicious, made with bubblegum vodka, is super fun. Mojitos come in multiple flavors, including strawberry, blueberry, mangomint and ginger. And, there’s lots of whiskey too.

It’s a nonstop party at Whiskey Blue. No wonder the beautiful people can’t leave it alone.

Chipper at The Charlie

You’ve seen hotel rooms with private kitchenettes, blackout shades and even a personal butler. If you think you have seen it all when it comes to living in the lap of luxury, you haven’t seen anything yet. Welcome to The Charlie Hotel.

Picture 73It may sound like an ordinary hotel but it is anything but. Located in West Hollywood, The Charlie is made out of 14 bungalows all named after famous faces such as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and of course, Charlie Chaplin himself. The 14 bungalows all located on the street N. Sweetzer are the most luxurious and elegant bungalows, if you can even call them that, that anyone would be lucky enough to stay in. Whether you choose a two bedroom bungalow or a two bedroom apartment, each guest is meant to feel as though they are in someone’s home rather than a guest at a hotel.

Each bungalow features typical hotel services such as room cleaning and internet, but what separates The Charlie from others is its commitment to personal assistance, with amenities such as dog walking, weekly fresh flower deliveries and a gardener.

If a month or even a day at The Charlie sounds ideal, join the club. Celebrities such as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were once spotted checking in to one of the bungalows. Apparently Chaplin is trying to keep the tradition alive, from one celebrity to another.

Nice to Meet You, Fred Segal

Picture 15The epitome of Los Angeles living is all rolled up into one at Fred Segal on Melrose. Only in L.A. can you sip cocktails, shop designers and spot celebrities all in the same location. The lavish store, broken up into sections such as “The Parliament” and “Fred Segal Fun and Style,” is the ultimate hot spot for celebrities, and those who adore them, to get their shop on.

The reason Fred Segal is so popular is due to its location and ability to deliver the best clothing, shoes and accessories for L.A. fashionistas. If you are in the mood to spot a celeb, it definitely comes with a price; Fred Segal is the epitome of overpriced.

If you aren’t fortunate enough to drop some cash at the store, it is definitely worth it to sit out on the patio for lunch or an afternoon cocktail. Even though it’s a clothing store, some might argue that this is a Los Angeles landmark. Let the sightseeing begin.

Macaluso’s: Homemade Italian Away From Home

Macaluso’s is reminiscent of a traditional Italian restaurant in Little Italy where the meatballs taste like they’re straight from Grandma’s kitchen. But there’s no red and white checkered tablecloths here, instead there are photographs of celebrity regulars like Gloria Estefan and Roger Federer, along with white linens and upscale decor all the way.Picture 10

Chef Michael Vito D’Andrea is as famous in Miami as his award-winning meatballs.  Chef D’Andrea is known for his no-nonsense, no substitutions attitude and the meatballs are known for their incredible taste, of course, especially with the homemade pasta. Mascaluso’s has plenty of other Italian faves, like sausage and peppers and meatball pizza, but the menu here is verbal only; it’s one way they keep the place feeling like home.

If you’re looking to take home some of the delicious meal, you’re in luck. Next to the restaurant is the market, Macaluso’s & Co., where lunch is served and the homemade meatballs and sausages are for sale.

Robertson: A Trend to Do and Take Home

Move over Rodeo Drive, whether preparing to be seen or shopping the scene, Robertson is the place. Here, find every look from trendy high fashion to casual daily staples that stand out… as well as plenty of paparazzi catching a glimpse of today’s hottest stars.

It’s easy to kill a day on the few Robertson blocks between Beverly and 3rd Street. Start with lunch at The Ivy or Newsroom Cafe for plenty of shopping fuel, though both Starbucks and LA fave Coffee Bean are readily available if the need for a mid-spree upper arises. The strip is packed with both boutiques and bigger names. Jeans are the thing at Paige, AG, and True Religion, or pop into Kitson and Intermix for LA trendsetter staples.  But remember, for late night in Hollywood, the short skirt reigns. Couture, cosmetics, bed and beach wear, Robertson has something for everyone…well everyone with cash to burn.

1 OAK is One of a Kind

1OAK, which stands for One Of A Kind, is the true Manhattanite hotspot. Hidden at the crossroads of the Meatpacking and Chelsea party districts, it brings together the best of both of these worlds: a strict door policy (read: better, hotter clientele) and music that keeps people dancing until daylight.

1OAK has all the elements that makePicture 15 for a hot NYC nightclub. It’s small and elegant, so the doormen are super choosy at the tight door. Celebrities come here like no other club in Manhattan: it’s the place where Lindsay Lohan infamously tweeted about Justin Timberlake’s supposed “indiscretions.” 1OAK hosts some of the most VIP parties in Manhattan, from Fashion Week after-parties to Robin Thicke’s birthday party, with guests like Jay-Z and Beyonce, to name but a few. The DJs are some of the best around, the cocktail waitresses are some of the hottest around, and the prices are, well, astronomical.

So what makes it one of a kind? 1OAK is the place for after hours clubbing. When true parties get sick of the first club at, let’s say, 2am or 3am, they head over to 1OAK where the party is just getting hot. The door technically closes at 4am, but that’s only when they stop serving alcohol, as this party goes much later and gets much crazier. For those staying late with a table, 1OAK is rumored to bolt the door and serve its patrons breakfast.

Now that’s 1 Of a Kind.

Get Your Body and Mind Aligned at In-Symmetry

San Francisco is inundated with salon and spa storefronts- some pricey, some alternative and some for the gentleman traveler.  Yet who wants another mediocre massage when there’s In-Symmetry?  Hidden on the south side of Potrero Hill, this high quality day spa has a “members only” atmosphere and an “everyone’s welcome” price- just like Trader Joe’s.

Picture 20In-Symmetry Spa is as proud of its history of service for Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, K.D. Lang, Ashton Kutcher, Pink, and Natalie Merchant as it is its deep-tissue massage services for the masses of locals who frequent here every week.  No matter who you are, this laid-back spa will treat you with the indulgence and respect you deserve after your long week at work.

Aside from a Zen Hot Stone Massage that will make your body melt on the table, and a healing Sports Massage, In-Symmetry provides specialized Pre-Natal massages that pamper mama-to-be and Facials that will tone and tighten your face without the surgery.  But be prepared, every service here will leave you floating on air with your head in the clouds, so planning your payment ahead of time might be wise.

Delano is an Icon of Deco South Beach

Others may come and go, but the Delano is the hotel that set the tone for what has become hip and happening in the South Beach scene. That pool, ohhh that pool, sets the standard for the rest of what represents “livin’ it up” in Miami. Sitting beachfront and a stone’s throw away from Lincoln Road and its thriving nightlife, Delano is simply where it’s at.

Picture 11Inside, the place is decorated by room so that each area provides a different experience. White is by far the predominant color with guest rooms awash in the crisp, clean hue, from the luxurious penthouse to the more subdued, but still uber cool, rooms and suites. A rooftop spa offers a 360 degree view of nothing but turquoise ocean as far as the eye can see.

And of course, stay for some great nightlife and dining. After all, there’s the classic Blue Door, the hotel’s original and award-winning restaurant, along with Plat Bleu, and for cocktails and people watching (ahem, celeb spotting), there’s the elegant Rose Bar.

2. Star Studded TriBeCa Film Festival April 21-30

Picture 18Tribeca Film Festival invades lower Manhattan once a year and it’s always a star studded, must-see red carpet event, after all it was created by Robert DeNiro. One of the most important and popular independent film festivals, this year the parties and controversy have started early.

Shrek Forever After will open the festival, and other films like My Trip to Al Qaeda, Last Play at Shea, and Edward Burns’ Nice Guy Johnny are sure to bring out the stars. One film, though, that is getting a lot of publicity, protests and defense (even a write up in the New York Times) is the transgender comedy Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives. With titles like these, this year’s Tribeca Film Festival will not disappoint.

1. Star Studded LA Antique Market April 21-25

Screen shot 2010-03-24 at 12.03.42 PMThe exquisite invitation-only Opening Night Preview Party for the LA Antique Market will host some of Los Angeles’ most prominent architects, designers, artists and actors. Some of the guests include Courtney Cox and Spiderman Toby Maguire who will be admiring the world’s finest art and antiques at this elegant cocktail party kick-off.
Don’t’ worry if you can’t score an invite, as the main event is open to the public and will be attended by more than 1,000 of the communities most influential professionals and the weekend long event attended by more than 2,500 patrons of the art and antique world. This year’s host committee includes Maria Bell, Courtney Cox, Dita von Teese, and Tobey Maguire.

4. 7 Premieres, 7 Parties at Gen Art Film Fest April 7-13

Picture 23April is the month for film festivals in New York and Gen Art is a great place for cool, cutting edge people and films. Now in its 15th year, the Gen Art Film Festival is a week-long festival showcasing 14 films (7 shorts, 7 features) from some of North America’s most talented emerging filmmakers. In the past it has introduced cutting edge filmmakers like Alan Cumming, Cary Fukunaga and the late Adrienne Shelly. A unique feature of this festival is that regular people can get tickets to the highly coveted and star studded after-parties.

Real or Wax at The Hollywood Wax Museum

While you can spot celebrities on the street or dining at their favorite digs, nothing really beats a photo op with one of your favorite stars. The Hollywood Wax Museum, situated on the famous Hollywood Boulevard, is the only place where no matter what time of day, you can be face-to-face with Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Elvis Presley and even Judy Garland.  The Hollywood Wax Museum is the longest running wax museum and the only one devoted entirely to famous faces in the United States.

Even though posing and snapping photographs is all the fun, thePicture 7 true beauty behind this museum is how long it takes to bring these stars to life. Careful planning and authentic design go into each creation giving each wax figure a real presence- taking a team of 7 artists three months to make! The museum is constantly changing to allow for new, popular stars to be immortalized for fans in the life-like wax. This museum is perfect for the City of Stars, because it gives museum goers a chance to pose with a celebrity without having to chase them down.

Insider’s Tip: Open 365 days a year, a visit to this museum is probably best accompanied by other spots such as the Guinness World Records Museum or Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Thanks to multiple ticket packages that the museum offers, you can visit all three and get a true taste of Hollywood celebrities, world records and unbelievable sightings.

For Swank and Steak, It’s Always Elway’s

Picture 14Although it may have owed its early fanfare to the popularity of its namesake, retired Broncos quarterback and co-owner John Elway, this Cherry Creek steakhouse has endured on its own merits: a swanky white-cloth setting, a legendary local bar scene, and a solid (if spendy) repertoire of chops, luxury seafood, and other modern American classics.

In fact, its success has spread downtown, with an even fancier, leather-swathed and wine-walled outpost in the Ritz-Carlton—where the day begins with power breakfasts and ends with sightings of sports celebs hunkered down over ribeyes and crab legs.

It’s All About Legs at Hugo’s Frog Bar

Chicago’s Gold Coast is a mecca of fine dining and celeb sightings. Where Rush Street turns into State Street- what Chicagoans call the Viagra Triangle for its reputation of older men with arm candy dates- is a scene of classic Chicago restaurants where Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House stands out above the crowd as one of the best spots for seafood you’ll find west of the Atlantic.

But before you even get to the mouth-Picture 15watering menu options of crab, lobster, oysters (for the aphrodisiac lovers) and fresh fishes, it’s all about the legs. Oui, les frog legs that is. Lathered in garlic and delicious spices, the frog legs at Hugo’s are so scrumptious that even the pickiest of eaters tend to become leg lovers post visit. If you save enough room after the legs, the menu is chalk full of more seafood options and of course, plenty of turf for meat lovers as well.

Equally as notable as the delicious cuisine here however, is the charm of the ambiance. The ol’ maritime interior and swingin’ vibe leave patrons in a jolly good mood as they sip dirty martinis and their conversations begin to spill from one table to the next.

Viagra not included.

1. Denver Film Society Roots for Its Own at Oscars Party March 7

Picture 24The Oscars are one of the biggest cultural events every year, but in Denver they are especially special in 2010. Three of Denver Film Society’s films are up for the golden statuette, including Precious, The Cove and a documentary short.

The Party with Oscar at the innovative Museum of Contemporary Art offers the select few a true Hollywood experience, complete with a red carpet. Throughout four floors of the MCA’s unique galleries, patrons will be sipping champagne, snacking on gourmet hors d’ouerves and watching the Academy Awards on well placed viewing screens all over the museum. If this venue and event isn’t fabulous enough, the MCA also offers one of the best skyline views of the gorgeous city.

2. Dallas’ Only Official Oscar Night Party March 7

Picture 19It’s every movie star’s dream to win an Oscar. For everyone else, just being at the Oscar’s would be a dream come true. USA Film Festival rolls out the red carpet to make that happen with the official Oscar Night America Dallas. On March 7th, watch The Academy Awards in style, from your seat at Studio Movie Grill. Sip on champagne while you experience the thrills and excitement as the event is telecast on the large theater screen. Dinner will be served, as well as a live auction featuring movie memorabilia. The same official program will be provided as the one at the presentation at Kodak Theatre in Hollywood!

2. Sports Star Waiter Dinner for a Good Cause March 4

Picture 25Meeting celebrities (or dreaming of meeting them), may be a guilty wish for many of us, but at the 2nd annual Sports Affair: Celebrity Waiter Dinner, you can feel like a star among the stars. Back by popular demand, this event is attended by some of Denver’s hottest athletes, including Denver Nugget J.R. Smith and former Denver Bronco Reggie Rivers. The evening not only includes star athletes, attendees will have dinner, entertainment, and both a live and silent auction. The best part? The Celebrity Waiter Dinner is all for a good cause: the proceeds will go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

2. Oscar Night at Lucca Back Bay March 7

Picture 31This March, Oscar fever will sweep the nation. After the biggest box office year in the history of U.S. cinema, this year’s ceremony is sure to go down in history as one of the most memorable. So the only question is: where are you going to watch it? Why not watch the ceremony in style.

On Sunday, March 7, Lucca Back Bay is hosting a party to celebrate the hottest night in Hollywood. Executive chef Anthony Mazzotta will prepare a regional Italian menu specific to the changing seasons. Watch Hollywood’s brightest stars walk down the red carpet from Lucca’s lounge; separated from the main dining room the lounge features a substantial bar filled with a varied selections of scotches, bourbons and the finest Italian wines. It’s a night that promises to be filled with fun, friends, and plenty of little golden men named Oscar.

The Standard Sets It Very, Very High

Whether you are poolside or cozying up in The Purple Lounge, nothing is standard at The Standard. It only takes one step into the lobby to realize that you are at one of the swankiest hotels in Los Angeles. Filled with modern furniture and a staff that looks like they were castPicture 17 from Ford Models, The Standard upholds its reputation of combining trendy elegance with a retro chic vibe.

If you are a lucky patron of the hotel, make sure your room has views to match its interior. Placed on Sunset Boulevard, views overlooking Hollywood are as worthy as the price you are paying for it.

For those just looking for a night out on the town, this is probably the only hotel you will ever see where the lobby gets as much action as a Las Vegas Casino. If you venture further into the 24/7 restaurant, you can find yourself in a club-like experience with flashing neon lights and select DJs.

Though the rooms and lobby are equally as amazing, nothing truly beats being poolside at The Standard. While sipping cocktails in the sun, don’t be surprised to run into celebrities who also ventured out to frolic under the shades of this fabulous pool.

Overall, the Standard can please any need, from the clubber to the sunbather. If you are looking for an over-the-top experience, you might as well go Standard.

MI6 is the New 007

Picture 9Though it doesn’t stand for “Mission Impossible,” MI6’s long line may leave you time to figure out its meaning- and who’s inside (hint: Daniel Craig’s employer). Originally Foxtail, the hot, new Santa Monica Boulevard club has started fresh and bumped up the stakes. With an impossible guest list and packed dance floor, you either need to know someone on the list or buy your way in.

The reason for MI6’s skyrocketing popularity is due to its location and setup. Situated on one of L.A’s busiest streets, street parking is actually plausible if you come at the right times. And thanks to its two story location, you can either make your way to the downstairs dance floor or upstairs for bottle service and tables.

Thanks to celebrity partygoers such as Lauren Conrad and Lamar Odom, MI6 has taken the clubbing scene by storm offering multiple bars and an even better DJ. With dark lighting and large crowds, the truest clubbing fans should venture to MI6 where the parties are known to last longer than the closing time of 2 A.M.

Goodbye, Foxtail. Hello, MI6.

Stella McCartney’s Rock ‘n Roll Meatpacking Store

Picture 26Stella McCartney was born rock royalty, but in the design world she has become a fashion force to be reckoned with: Madonna, Gwyneth and Cameron are a few of her famous fans. Her fiercely feminine clothes (think sexy with a draping of romance) were the first to invade the now uber chic meatpacking district that is now host to DVF, Carlos Miele and the late Alexander McQueen, among many other design houses.

Besides being the offspring of an ex-Beatle, Stella is most widely known for her staunch PETA stance. So near to her heart is the cause, that before she even started her line in 2001, she told Gucci Group her line would stay true to its “no fur and no leather” stance. Such conscious free clothing includes vegetarian shoe collection, faux fur and faux leather, but the luxury is most definitely always there with the incredible tailoring, craftmanship and unique designs. Stella’s line is huge with everything from fragrances, shoes, bags, and organic skin care to cashmere coats and red carpet dresses.

An added bonus? Her father’s Beatles music is always playing whenever you walk into the meatpacking store.

Live Like a Star at Hotel ZaZa

Swimming pools and movie stars….no, this isn’t an episode of Beverly Hills, but a stay here can feel like that (without the drama, of course). Hotel ZaZa is a hotbed of glitPicture 8z and glamour that draws big names and big parties. When celebs come to town, ZaZa is a hands-down favorite, and for good reason: the exterior is modern with a French Chateau twist, the chic lobby is bathed in candlelight and crystal accents, and the hotel boasts the Magnificent Seven Suites, with themes like Crouching Tiger and Rock Star that can accommodate stylish dinner parties or become a sexy bridal suite. (Insider tip: Rock Star lives up to its name, being rumored to truly be a favorite of rock stars all over the world.)

The pool is another place you’ll find yourself feeling like the epitome of glamour. In the summer, it is full of greenery and cocktails for comfortably basking in the Texas heat. In the winter, the pool area is encased by a tent and candlelight, and becomes a plexiglass floor that guests can mix and mingle over.

With eclectic dining in Dragonfly, the hotel restaurant, and Za Spa, a relaxing oasis, you’ll begin to think you’ve been magically transported to Beverly Hills instead of Big D.

Enclave Encapsulates all the Beautiful People

Wondering where all the beautiful people are? Look no further, they’re at “Best of Citysearch Nightlife Winner,” Enclave. The who’s who of Chicago- and everywhere else- has been/performed here: Lady GaGa, Brody Jenner, Akon, Carmen Electra, Betsey Johnson, Holly Madison, and Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, to namePicture 10 a few.

Here, it’s all about bottle service. They’ve got anything you want, as long as it’s upscale. Whether it’s magnums of champagne (the real stuff only) or the hot, new, trendy vodka (Grey Goose or Effen), it all comes with fresh flowers and carafes of juice.

House and hip hop beats penetrate with an array of different hot DJs on the weekends and plenty of events to keep the year rolling; from football parties for Northwestern to Lady GaGa mixing it up with the locals. The two-story, 15,000 square foot space has chic, shiny wood floors, beautiful sofas and intimate-inspiring sheer curtains.

With never-ending A-List events and a hot, young, Chicago crowd, Enclave is the place to be for some serious partying in Chi-town.

Killer Kobe & Clientele at Beach’s Prime 112

Housed inside a former hotel and looking more like a Key West-inspired structure than anything resembling Art Deco, the hotspot foPrime 112 #2r dining south of Fifth Street on South Beach is Prime 112. Walk through the doors of this quaint yet brightly colored restaurant — seriously, it’s a cheery yellow wooden structure with white trim — and the sense of “this is the place to see and be seen” is immediately evident. Celebrities and all-star athletes love to celebrate here, seeing as the food and ambiance are amazing.

Known for the killer steaks — filet mignon, Kobe, strip, porterhouse, rib eye — they’ve got them all and then some. The seafood selections, including local swordfish, crab crusted grouper, wild salmon and Chilean sea bass, are perfect for seafood connoisseurs. And the ridiculous amount of of potato-inspired sides and other traditional fare makes ordering here that much more entertaining. Obviously, reservations are strongly recommended.

America’s Top Chef Exemplifies Perfection at Craft

Tom Colicchio, the head judge of Bravo’s emmy award-winning Top Chef, usually has harsh criticism for the up and coming contestants. But taking one bite of his mouth watering creations at thPicture 7e flagship Craft Restaurant, you’ll understand why he is so harsh. Every single dish at this upscale New American restaurant is absolutely served to perfection.

Deemed as the pioneer of mix-and-match mains and sides, Craft’s menu is an a la carte dream with every dish as tasty as the next. From the famous rustic Hen-of-the-Woods mushrooms to the succulent sirloin steak main and even the minor side of gnocchi would make most (Italian) chefs cry. The back-to-basics cooking style Colicchio employs lets the ingredients shine and for the diner, it elevates the experience of the simplest and most unglamorous dishes, like corn, into a shining yellow pot of gold.

The decor of Craft reflects the clean yet rustic menu. The tables, floors, and bar are made of an oak wood, but the design has clean lines as if it were a modern fusion restaurant. The tables are abnormally large, a trend, like the upscale family-style menu, that has followed to most high-end Manhattan restaurants, to accommodate all the tasty dishes.

With culinary and restaurateur imitators galore, it’s no wonder Colicchio and Craft have swept up three stars from the New York Times and numerous prestigious James Beard Awards. Oh, and don’t forget, the title of the real “Top Chef.”

Harry Winston: Rare Gemstones and Diamonds Galore

You may know Harry Winston as the design house of Jennifer Lopez’s hugely famous million dollar pink diamond engagement ring, or as the man who owned- and donated- the most famous diamond in the world, the Hope Diamond, but this store holds much more than diamonds. On the top floor of the Fifth Avenue boutique, master craftsmen create handmade timepieces and one-of-a-kind designs. The collection of the aptly named “The Incredibles” features large and exquisitely cut sapphires, rubies, tourmalines, and emeralds in custom designs surrounded by none other than beautiful diamonds. The excellence and sheer beauty of the rare gemstones and designs makes this a Hollywood favorite for every major red carpet, wedding, or special event.

Rattlesnake: The Ritz Texas Style

Socialites, scenesters, and celebrities are the heart and soul of the Rattlesnake Bar at the Ritz-Carlton on McKinney Avenue in Uptown.  Just like the name of the hotel, everything thing you see here is ritzy and sparkling, but with some Texas cocktail flair.

To put out the vibe that you are a regular VIP, order the Dean’s MargarPicture 23ita with organic agave nectar while nibbling on spring rolls with achiote pulled pork. If that isn’t enough to get you going, sip the Caribbean Caipirinha- a spicy little number that will stir your senses with ginger beer and cachaca, a liquor made from fermented sugarcane.  When weather permits, head outside on the patio where the young and the restless are perched on comfortable couches and swarming the small bar to see and be seen.

Though the cocktails can be a little pricey, you won’t find more upscale southern charm or opportunity to rub elbows with the city’s movers and shakers-or perhaps become one yourself. Of all the stylish nightlife spots in Dallas, the crowd here is noticeably high fashion and ready to mingle.

Celeb Buzz for Big D’s Fortune Denim

With Picture 7a celebrity devotees like Jennifer Aniston and Paris Hilton, Fortune Denim can make you feel like a star, even if you aren’t already. The satin waistband inside the jeans, signature details such as metallic thread and Swarovski crystal buttons, and a slimming fit make this denim ulta-posh. If that isn’t enough to pique your interest, each pair has a personal fortune sewn inside to bring you good luck!

Created by local entrepreneur Karen Noseff, Fortune Denim can be found at local boutiques like the Blue Jeans Bar, or on occasion at special events Ms. Noseff throws herself. Who doesn’t want to shop for premium denim while lounging at a wine and cheese party? Shopping is all the more fun when styles range from names like Shanghai Star to Beijing Belle.

Visit Fortune’s website to find a flattering fit and perhaps, your fortune.

Jersey Chasers Score at The Fifty/50

Wondering where the elite echelon of sports stars hang out while in the Windy City? Without a doubt it’s at the Fifty / 50, a bar which brings the sexy back to the Ukrainian Village ‘hood (if it were ever there in the first place). Now it definitely is, from Tony Romo to Pierre Thomas of the Super Bowl-winning New Orleans Saints. Even the investors are sports stars; Curtis Granderson is an investor (of the New York Yankees), and owners Greg Mohr and Scott Weiner roll in the same circles as these big boys.

Alas, jersey chasers – the doors to the Fifty / 50 are basically your pearly gates. The food will give another inkling as to why the jocks flock here: the menu is based on fried foods, smoked foods and sandwiches (and beer of course). Read: dieters this is not your place, unless you’re happy dining in the eye candy. And worry not, feasting on the likes of athlete superstars is not restricted only to the evening hours, this place is a brunch hotspot as well.

Ladies, suggest this place to a guy and you score. Guys, suggest this place to the ladies and they’re happy (albeit because they’re wondering who they’ll see). Either way you flip it, 50% chance plus 50% chance equals 100% happiness.

Piercing Fine Jewelry at Venus by Maria Tash

Ever wonder where the likes of Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, and Christina Aguilera get their, um, naval jewelry? Celebrities, including men (Mickey Rourke is a client), go to the custom, classy, one-of-a-kind designs for pierced body parts at Venus by Maria Tash.

Picture 9Belly button rings, nose piercings, and even multiple earrings tend to look more trashy than classy, but not with Maria Tash’s designs. All her jewelry is made of the finest metals and stones like 18k white gold, diamonds, and even rare opals. Her famous “floating”naval piece highlights the top part of the piercing  so your belly button is bare with a glimmering piece highlighting it on top. The jewelry also comes with some bells and whistles, like the internal threading that guarantees no tearing of the piercing, custom post lengths for different sized bodies, and custom designs that are interchangeable and can be updated at any time.

If you don’t have a piercing, that’s not a problem. Upstairs, Venus by Maria Tash offers a relaxing, clean, and very private piercing area that is more like a spa than a piercing parlor (Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon had all her daughters pierced here) as well as pierce-free jewelry like rings and necklaces.

New Camera 027Fortunately, you don’t have to book yourself a ticket to enjoy the venue.  There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting by the Palace’s Corinthian columned rotunda and lagoon, brimming with bright flowers and peaceful swans.  This setting has long been the symbol of the Palace of Fine Arts and draws thousands of people each year to its romantic backdrop.  It is, after all, San Francisco’s top choice for outdoor weddings.

Tickets are limited, meaning one most buy them early and be willing to pay the price. But, we’re sure every penny is worth it to see- and possibly talk to- the most beautiful and famous people in the world.

Welcome to the New and Improved MOCA

Only in Hollywood can a museum bring out so many A-listers. Art lovers Brangelina, Lady Gaga, and members of the Bolshoi Ballet were part of an eclectic mix to honor the new Museum of Contemporary Art.

The MOCA is the only museum in Los Angeles devoted solely to contemporary art. It houses nearly 6000 pieces (and growing!) from all mediums of art produced after 1939. The museum is actually in three facilities: MOCA Grand Avenue, The Geffen Observatory at MOCA, and MOCA Pacific Design Center. The collection is so impressive that it’s regarded as one of the most important collections in showcasing the post-war world.

And as you can see, it is a favorite for many of Los Angeles’ most elite artists.

A Good Night’s Never a Question at Cafe Wha?

Tucked along the NYU friendly Macdougal Street, Cafe Wha? and its humble exterior might make you question the legitimacy of this place. Put all doubts aside, over the years Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor have all performed on its small stage. Picture 5

Today, the place is always packed with a cool, downtown crowd. The lowly lit venue is always loud with buzzed New Yorkers and the small stage allows for an intimate setting. Different guests perform every night, but the acclaimed Cafe Wha? Band is guaranteed to play every Wednesday through Sunday. And comedians, many of whom have appeared on Comedy Central, HBO or late-night television, open for the band regularly.

Arrive early for the best seats, but bets are on that you half-way through you’ll be singing at the top of your lungs and turning this live music venue into a personal dance floor.

The Stars Are Always Out At Nobu Dallas

Picture 4Strategically located off the ultra-luxurious lobby of Hotel Crescent Court, and smack in the heart of Uptown, sits one of Dallas’ sexiest Japanese hotspots. But this isn’t your average sushi joint; this is Nobu Dallas.

A testament to the parking lot full of Bentleys, Maseratis, and Porsches outside, Nobu is prone to frequent visits from VIP guests of the hotel, as well as repeat offenders of pretty much any Dallas sports team from the Cowboys to Mavericks to Stars. And speaking of stars, A-list celebrities and Dallas elite have also been known to frequent their favorite tables, servers, and dishes right here at good ol’  Nobu Dallas.

Nobu offers something delicious for every palate- even those who tend to run from raw fish. Nobu also offers a variety of hearty fare; most notably the Wagyu beef (think Kobe or Washu), their very famous Black Cod with miso glaze, or Lobster Tempura for those with bigger appetites. And just say Omakase! if you have no idea what to order to let your knowledgable server map out your meal. Despite the reputation of most Japanese restaurants, we would suggest saving room for the desserts here.

Light Show & Cristal at Liv Nightclub

Prices are from $65 to $895 for everything from pearl drop earrings to chunky onyx necklaces with gold and Swarovski laden ombre clasps. It sounds luxurious, and it is, at prices that make one-of-a-kind attainable for all.

Legends Live On at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Picture 19As star-studded as Hollywood itself, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery has been the final resting place for the stars of the silver screen since the beginning of the movie era. Thousands come each year to see pin-up Jayne Mansfield, Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer and legendary film director Cecil B. DeMille’s tombstones. As the “resting place of Hollywood’s immortals,” this is a unique mix of both the living and the not soon to be forgotten: the cemetery is a historic landmark that shares half of its lot with Paramount Studios.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery offers a myriad of walking tours.  The Hidden Hollywood Tour uncover the lost stars’ resting places, like Birth of Nation’s Henry B. Walthall; The Jewish Heritage Tour explores the lives and contributions of many of its Jewish persons; the tours would not be complete without The Cemetery of the Stars Tour that shows the A-list of the interred people.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is also host to many events year round, like the “Dia De Los Muertos” festival, that is one of the biggest of its kind. Sure, it may be a little morbid, but they don’t call it Hollywierd for nothing!

Sleek Brow Shaping at Zaibees

Madonna, Cher, Prince- all these stars are so big they only need one name. Picture 50Now, meet Zaibee. Her eyebrow shaping technique is so exquisite and in demand, she has no time for walk-ins anymore. Here’s how it works: Zaibee bites down on one end of a thread, while uprooting brow hair with the other, follicle by follicle. Yes, Zaibee specializes in the ancient Indian threading, which is the hot alternative to eyebrow waxing.

If your arch doesn’t need any touching, Zaibees also specializes in skin, hair, and nails needs. In keeping with the unique Indian theme, you can even come out with an authentic Indian henna tattoo in the middle of Texas.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Picture 226Anastasia (for whom the salon is named) is widely known in Beverly Hills as the go-to girl for the perfectly arched eyebrow. She has styled “forehead caterpillars” for everyone from Madonna to Penelope Cruz to Naomi Campbell, and that’s a tough crowd to please. But perfection is what Anastashia does, which is why she has been written up in every fashion and beauty magazine out there.

This eyebrow wiz flaunts a client list that reads like a Vanity Fair party guest list! Anastasia also has a new makeup line designed with “Old Hollywood” in mind that she describes as “luxurious” and “elegantly old fashioned.” In addition to her eyebrow expertise, Anastasia also branches off with other services including all kinds of facials, waxings, and makeup services.
