Beer lovers all over the District are relishing over ChurchKey, the newest addition to the trendy 14th Street lounge scene.  As the more casual, chic counterpart to its equally anticipated other half, Birch & Barley, ChurchKey boasts an out-of-this-world beer list, packed with a variety of unique brews.  The always packed, “it” beer bar boasts over 50 drafts, 500 bottles and 5 English-style cask ales – Washington’s largest selection by far.  For those looking to take advantage of the bold assortment, grab a seat at one of the comfy, oversized banquettes and try ordering a variety of 4-ounce servings.

Don’t sample on an empty stomach though – ChurchKey’s witty menu is almost as impressive at the booze list.  Executive Chef Kyle Bailey has concocted some quirky small plates that pair perfectly with Beer Director Greg Engert’s brews.  Bring your foodie friends with a sense of humor, and share an order of the Disco Fries with Cheddar and Sausage Gravy or the whimsical Green Eggs & Ham – deviled duck eggs served with duck pancetta and sage.

Spice Market Spices Up the Meatpacking

Few places command the same opening buzz and packed seats six years down the road, but Spice Market has become a mainstay destination in the ever-evolving Meatpacking district. A mega-restaurant – two floors of carved wood canopies and Southeast Asian inspired decor with a perfect people-watching patio- delivers food that’s as delicious and consistent as one would expect from celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.Picture 19

Spice Market is technically inspired from the street food of Southeast Asia, but the cuisine, which taps the flavors of Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and India, is delivered with luxurious style. For a perfect meal, start off with the Chicken Samosas- a perfect blend of crispy outer shell and moist meat inside; favorite entrees include Steamed Red Snapper with Shitake Mushrooms, Ginger, Scallions and Tarragon or the Red Curried Duck, where a side of the sweet Coconut Sticky Rice Steamed in Banana Leaf takes the spicy curry to another level; finish off the meal with the Thai Jewels and Fruits with Crushed Coconut Ice for a cool dessert. Meals are meant to be shared, so don’t be afraid to order plenty for the table.

Reservations are highly recommended as Spice Market is one of the hottest dining options in its trendy downtown neighborhood, but if all else fails, make sure to grab a seat at the bar where mixologists whip up unique spins on cocktail favorites like the Saigon Cosmo, Ginger Margarita and Pineapple Mojito.

1515 Restaurant is fine dining Denver style. It’s a nationally recognized, award-winning restaurant that takes contemporary American cuisine, splashes it with some European flair, and adds some one-of-a-kind “eclectic Colorado cuisine” to top off the menu.

People come for the food as well as the ambiance. The bar scene on the first floor is usually crowded with a hot crowd, with lots of people watching of those who come through the door.
