Larry Gagosian’s gallery—a massive, maze-like layout of beautifully lit rooms—is considered by many to be the cornerstone of the art scene in Chelsea. 3. First U.S. Luc Tymans Exhibit at DMA Begins June 6
Jointly organized by the prestigious San Francisco MOMA and the Wexner Center, Belgian artist Luc Tymans will be showing his first U.S. retrospective work at the Dallas Museum of Art starting on June 6, 2010. The New York Times has already raved about this exhibit. Luc Tymans is known for his deceptively simple figurative paintings that evoke strong thoughts and discussions in its simplicity. The exhibition will go in chronological order of his career, highlighting the fluid progression of his famous painting style. Enjoy it in Dallas before the exhibit heads over to the SFMOMA.
3. Dogwood Art Festival April 16-18
Spring is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing in Atlanta: the Atlanta Dogwood Festival is back. The Dogwoods will be in full bloom, and hundreds of artists from around the country will set up their tents for the 74th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Virtually every kind of art imaginable will be represented, with a nationally renowned-juried Fine Artist Market that includes sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, and photography.
In addition to the fine art, there is a Kids Village featuring huge inflatables, arts & crafts, and face painting for all ages, as well as the ever-popular 24-foot rock-climbing wall. Not to mention the wide array of musical offerings will fill the spring air throughout the weekend. When you get hungry, just follow the smells of funnel cakes, gyros, crab cakes, onion rings, kettle corn and much, much more. And don’t forget the free screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho on the meadow, on Saturday at 9 p.m.
2. FADA LA Art Show 1/20-1/24/10.
The Fine Arts Dealers Association (FADA) presents the 15th annual LA Art Show. At the venue downtown, there’s over a hundred galleries from all across the world who have come to showcase what’s new and hot in painting, sculpture, photography, video and more. This translates to over 15,000 works from periods as diverse as historical to modern art. To kick off the internationally acclaimed event, there’s an Opening Night Gala and all throughout the weekend there are various events, displays, and activities to get you inspired.
2. Last Chance for Rare Picasso & More 12/1-12/12/09
Picasso is known for his abstract paintings, but he was also a talented ceramic artist. Having one of the largest collections of Picasso ceramics to be offered by a private gallery, The Andrew Weiss Gallery is proudly presenting Picasso Ceramics (1947-1969). For the first time, more than 50 rare ceramic works are being made available to collectors. Picasso’s quest to master all mediums is demonstrated through this exhibition that also includes his drawings, etchings, and lithographs.
Additionally, the exhibit includes works by Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, and other 20th century masters.
Explorations in the Neighborhood
Explorations in the Neighborhood is a unique event featuring local artists. Philadelphia painter and architect Ed Bronstein features pastel and oil works depicting daily life in the city. Any visitor will be able to appreciate the hidden treasures of Philadelphia after visiting this exhibit.

Check their schedule—they’re famous for their artist talks and innovative presentations involving audience participation.
