Luxurious Lester Lampert

Picture 97Lester Lampert, located on Oak Street in the Gold Coast lives amongst neighbors such as Harry Winston, Hermes and Bvlgari to name a few. But yet it’s possible you’ve not heard the name before — if you’re not a jewelry connoisseur or a Chi-town native. Well, Lester Lampert is both.

One visit to his retail space of dreams, which doubled its original size in 2005, is enough to make anyone weak in the knees. The sparkles, the baubles, the diamonds! But it’s Lester’s unique designs that have gotten him where he is today. Chosen as the designer of the Field Museum‘s most noteworthy gems, Loyola University’s stained glass windows and more Chicago icons, one look and you’ll understand why.

Word of the wise: This is not a store to skip. It is a must visit when in the Windy City…if you like gorgeous things that is.

Transport Yourself to France with Lavendou

Picture 9North Dallas might not be known for its fine French cuisine, but Lavendou provides the French fix that you may be craving.  Though it’s located in a simple shopping center off Preston road, once you walk through the doors you feel as if you have been transported back to your vacation days in  France. Large armoires, bookshelves, wall sconces and French prints create a warm, inviting atmosphere reminiscent of the days when high tea was commonplace.

Scrumptious dishes like Saumon au Cavier Daubergine Sauce Verte are best bets to try. You won’t be able to forget the eggplant and basil cream sauce, seasoned and scintillating.  If you love Gyuere cheese, trying the onion soup (Gratinee a l’Oignon) will make your head spin with delight.  And when it comes time to celebrate Mom, a bridal or baby shower, or simply culture yourself a bit, high tea at Lavendou is just the ticket.  While you can’t always jet off to Europe to sample fine cuisine, this provides a taste of what you’re missing across the pond.

Harry Winston: Rare Gemstones and Diamonds Galore

You may know Harry Winston as the design house of Jennifer Lopez’s hugely famous million dollar pink diamond engagement ring, or as the man who owned- and donated- the most famous diamond in the world, the Hope Diamond, but this store holds much more than diamonds. On the top floor of the Fifth Avenue boutique, master craftsmen create handmade timepieces and one-of-a-kind designs. The collection of the aptly named “The Incredibles” features large and exquisitely cut sapphires, rubies, tourmalines, and emeralds in custom designs surrounded by none other than beautiful diamonds. The excellence and sheer beauty of the rare gemstones and designs makes this a Hollywood favorite for every major red carpet, wedding, or special event.
