Lucky Chengs For A “Unexpected” Evening

Lucky Cheng’s is the Drag Queen Capital of the Universe!

Outrageous drag queens serve up dinner and a show featuring interactive cabaret, comedy, and karaoke at the infamous Lucky Cheng’s Restaurant. The drag staff turns up the fun as your bartenders, waitresses and performers. After a 19 year run at its downtown location, the dinner show moved on up to its new Times Square Theater District location in the fall of 2012.

See the one hour show during a delicious 3-course Asian Fusion dinner packed with flavors, textures and aromas from all of Asia. The show is included in the dinner price, but menu surcharges, drinks, tax, and gratuity are not. Expect to see several talented performers and don’t be afraid to participate in the show. Tips for the show performers are optional, but greatly appreciated. This additional gratuity can be paid in cash or by credit card when paying your check.

Birdland

Ever since most of Chicago’s top musicians moved to New York in the mid-to-late 1920s, New York City has been the Jazz Mecca. Nearly every major jazz style of the past seventy years has been initiated in the Big Apple.

The Corner Bar is a comfortable little Uptown establishment inside an old building from the 1930’s on McKinney and Monticello. The pressed tin ceiling (painted, of course) and exposed brick really brings out the old-time, vintage feel of the place and really hones in on that “neighborhood pub” ambiance. While they have a full kitchen with pizza and other bar food offerings, most patrons frequent The Corner Bar for cheap drinks and Wednesday night Karaoke (which won a “Best of” in 2010). They also have a few pool tables, with free pool on Sundays, and a good number of large TV’s considering the small size of the place.

And though there’s not much food on the menu—with only a couple of appetizers, you should plan to dine elsewhere—there’s lots of entertainment in store: besides plasma TVs and free Wifi, karaoke, poker, trivia, and DJs all turn The Robusto Room into a refined rec room on any given night.
