Dave’s Records carry all speeds (33,45,even 78), all formats (7”, 10”, 12” single, EP , LP), and all styles (rock, jazz, soul, funk, hip hop, house, disco, reggae, blues, folk, country, vocal, soundtracks, showdaves_recordstunes, classical, indie/alternative and every sub-genre you can imagine). If it’s on vinyl, it’s here now or it’s passed through the doors and in to someone’s crate. On any given day, there are at least 40,000 titles to choose from. Every day new titles freshen the racks. Dave’s Records sell both new and used. You’ll find both import and domestic new vinyl. You’ll find a wide assortment of new reissued vinyl. Museum of Contemporary Art thinks outside the box, and onto the plaza

Museum of Contemporary Art in ChicagoArt isn’t meant to be kept inside the box, or on the canvas for that matter. At Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the curators try to put their chosen pieces in context, as much as the sculptures, video, balloon art, and other abstract expressions can be.

The abstract space constantly evolves as new pieces come in and out of the Streeterville location on a regular basis. But one thing is a constant at the MCA: abstract art that helps you look at the world in a very different light. Whether its an art project out on the plaza, or a display inside one of the U.S.’s biggest modern art museums, the Museum of Contemporary Art knows how to push boundaries.

Admission is $12, except on Tuesdays, when it’s free for Illinois residents. MCA is closed on Mondays.

DC’s only Presidential Museum – Woodrow Wilson House

The Woodrow Wilson House is a national historic landmark and house museum that tells of President Wilson’s Washington Years from 1912-1924. Through informative guided tours and exhibitions, this museum promotes awareness of his celebrated life and ideals for the future as a world statesmen.

2. Denver Hosts World at Biennial of the Americas July 1-31

Denver is playing host to the world all this month Picture 20for the Biennial of the Americas. Artists and leaders from North, Central, and South America will be here to show off their ideas and works, as they take part in this celebration of the diversity of the region. From a rock and roll musical, a workshop on playing Caribbean drums,  a breakdance competition in Skyline Park, to The Cell (pictured), the first state-of-the-art exhibit on global terrorism, nearly every major museum, cultural center and public area will have something dedicated specifically to this event. The best part is that many of these programs are free! Check the website for information on all the various events and their locations.

Luxe L’Atelier

Picture 43Radek Cerny has been around the culinary world, and it shows in the sophistication of his successor to local legend Papillon—Boulder’s L’Atelier. The Czech native has cooked everywhere from New York to Vail, getting to know Paul Bocuse and Mick Jagger along the way; and in this spare, subdued “studio,” to translate the name, he distills those life lessons into exquisite contemporary French fare, from Escargots with Potato Foam to Lobster Ravioli with Beurre Blanc to the Sculptured Chocolate “Bag” filled with ice cream, fruit and topped with a mint leaf.

Insider’s Tip: To defray a bit of the cost, come on Tuesdays, when the entire wine list is half-off—or for lunch, a somewhat humbler but no less satisfying affair with housemade pâtés and breads for grilled panini.
